At International House of Music (“iHOMI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), we want you to feel confident about your purchase. This Return Policy explains when items may be returned, exchanged, refunded, or covered under warranty.

Please review this policy before completing your purchase. Return eligibility may depend on the item type, item condition, original packaging, proof of purchase, and whether the item is new, used, opened, clearance, special order, or final sale.

1. 30-Day Return Window for New Items

Most new, unopened items may be returned within 30 days of purchase for a refund to the original payment method, subject to inspection and the conditions below.

  • The item must be unused, unopened, and in original condition.
  • The item must include all original packaging, manuals, accessories, tags, cables, parts, and included materials.
  • Proof of purchase is required.
  • Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable unless the return is due to an iHOMI error or a verified defective item.

2. Opened Items

Opened products may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase, subject to inspection and approval.

Opened items must be returned in clean, complete, resellable condition with original packaging and all included accessories. If an opened item is accepted, a minimum 15% restocking fee will apply, even if the item is returned in perfect condition.

Additional restocking fees or return denial may apply if the item is missing packaging, accessories, manuals, cables, tags, or parts, or if the item shows wear, damage, odor, misuse, modification, installation, or signs of use beyond normal inspection.

3. Final Sale and Non-Returnable Items

The following items are final sale and are not eligible for return, refund, or exchange unless otherwise required by law or expressly approved by iHOMI in writing:

  • Red Tag items;
  • Clearance items;
  • Special orders;
  • Earbuds and ear plugs;
  • Books and sheet music;
  • Harmonicas;
  • Microphones;
  • Audio interfaces;
  • DJ software and DJ controllers;
  • Mouthpieces;
  • Software, downloads, licenses, activation codes, or opened digital products;
  • Items marked “final sale,” “as is,” “no returns,” or similar language at the time of sale.

For health, hygiene, licensing, and resale reasons, certain items cannot be returned once purchased or opened.

4. Used Items and 90-Day Used Warranty

Used items are sold based on their stated condition at the time of purchase. Used, vintage, demo, open-box, repaired, refurbished, or pre-owned items may show signs of wear, prior use, cosmetic imperfections, repairs, modifications, missing original packaging, or non-original parts.

Used items include a 90-day limited warranty for functional issues that were not disclosed at the time of sale. This warranty is intended to provide peace of mind, but it does not make used items returnable for general preference, buyer’s remorse, cosmetic condition, normal wear, or disclosed issues.

The 90-day used-item warranty does not cover:

  • Cosmetic wear, scratches, dents, finish checking, discoloration, or normal signs of use;
  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, accidents, drops, spills, humidity, heat, improper storage, or unauthorized repair;
  • Consumable parts such as strings, reeds, drumheads, batteries, tubes, picks, cables, or similar wear items;
  • Issues that were disclosed before purchase;
  • Items sold “as is,” “final sale,” or with written warranty exclusions.

If you believe a used item has a covered issue within 90 days, please contact us with your receipt and a description of the issue.

5. Defective, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

If you receive an item that appears defective, damaged in transit, or different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible.

  • Keep all original packaging, shipping boxes, labels, manuals, and accessories.
  • Take photos of the product, packaging, and any visible damage.
  • Do not discard shipping materials until the issue is resolved.
  • Do not attempt repair or modification without contacting us first.

After review, we may offer repair, replacement, exchange, refund, manufacturer warranty support, or carrier claim assistance, depending on the situation and product eligibility.

6. Return Shipping

Customers are generally responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to an iHOMI error, verified defective product, or approved warranty issue.

Returned items must be packed securely to prevent damage in transit. We recommend using a trackable and insured shipping method. iHOMI is not responsible for return shipments that are lost, stolen, delayed, or damaged before they arrive.

Items shipped back without authorization may be refused, delayed, or returned to sender.

7. Refund Processing

Once we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you whether the return is approved, partially approved, or denied.

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method whenever possible. Shipping charges, handling charges, delivery fees, installation fees, service fees, special order fees, and restocking fees may be deducted from the refund where applicable.

After a refund is processed by iHOMI, your bank, card issuer, financing provider, or payment processor may take additional time to post the refund to your account.

8. Exchanges

Eligible items may be exchanged within the applicable return window, subject to product availability and inspection.

If the replacement item costs more than the original item, you are responsible for the difference. If the replacement item costs less, the difference may be refunded or issued as store credit, depending on the payment method and transaction type.

9. Special Orders, Deposits, and Custom Items

Special orders, custom orders, deposits, layaway payments, reserved items, and items ordered specifically for a customer may be non-refundable and non-cancelable once the order has been placed, processed, shipped, or confirmed with a supplier.

Please confirm all product details, model numbers, colors, sizes, finishes, compatibility, and availability before placing a special order.

10. In-Store Returns

You may bring eligible items to our Downtown Los Angeles store for return review. Please bring:

  • The item being returned;
  • Original receipt or proof of purchase;
  • Original packaging and included accessories;
  • The payment card or payment method used, when applicable.

All returns are subject to inspection and approval by iHOMI.

11. Online Order Returns

For online orders, please contact us before shipping any item back. We will provide return instructions if the item is eligible.

Please do not send items back without contacting us first. Unauthorized returns may be refused, delayed, or returned to sender.

12. Policy Abuse

We reserve the right to refuse returns, exchanges, or refunds in cases of suspected fraud, abuse, excessive returns, altered products, missing serial numbers, chargeback abuse, or violation of this policy.
